Myths and Legends

Each book is a world in itself, and children sometimes take refuge in them, since they identify themselves with Stevenson's lines:

"This was a world and I was king

For me the bees came by to sing,
For me the swallows flew."

We have uploaded a few pictures showing the work that kindergarten and primary school teachers carried out with their children during the first part of the project.

First of all, they looked up several books, surfed the net and asked their older relatives to tell them legends about Brozzi, the borough in the north of Florence where our school is situated

Then, once a legend was chosen, the students read or they were told it by a teacher or some authoritative storyteller.
Ms Gabriella Di Tante, a lady who lives in the neighbourhood of our school, collected some legends of this area of Florence in a book. She accepted Ms Cristina Buricchi's invitation and came to tell first year students some of those stories.

All the children enjoyed themselves very much as storytelling is their favourite pastime.

They loved to draw scenes from the legends and record them on CDs as well.

Their teachers took photos of them working or helped them with their advice and support.

In the end all the pictures were put together in a booklet that will be given to our partners.

Everyone loved to take part into this project !
